Figure skating
Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, double, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport included in the Olympics.
The four Olympic disciplines are men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Non-Olympic disciplines include synchronized skating and four skating.
Skaters usually perform one short program and one short program, which may include spins, jumps, moves in the field, lifts, throw jumps, death spirals, and other elements or moves.

Yuzuru Hanyu is a Japanese figure skater. Yuzuru started skating in 1998 at the age four. Yuzuru was influenced by his sister, Saya, so he started skating.
During 2004-2005, Yuzuru first joined in a international competition, the 2004 Japan Novice Championships, and won the gold medal. In the 2006-2007 season, Yuzuru competed and won the bronze medal. This gave him the invitation to compete in the 2006–2007 Japan Junior Championships, and he got number 7.
Yuzuru now has been recognized as the top star of figure skating. He had won the Olympics gold medal in the 2013-2014 season, and the 2017-2018 season. He also had broken several world records such as the record of 2015–16 Grand Prix Final and the record of 2018 Winter Olympics.

FIRST MALE JAPANESE TO WIN OLYMPIC GOLD
In surpassing the 100-point barrier during his short program at Sochi 2014, Yuzuru Hanyu set a new world record and became the first male Japanese figure skater in history to win Olympic gold.
WORLD RECORD IN RUSSIA
On 13 February 2014 at the Iceberg Skating Palace in Sochi, Yuzuru participated in the Olympic men’s figure skating competition, and had an astonishing performance. He performed by performing a quadruple toe, triple axel, and triple lutz-triple toe loop combination to the audiences. He gained a world record score of 101.45 – the first time in figure skating history that a competitor had exceeded the 100-point mark in the short program.
HISTORIC WIN
Two days later, Yuzuru unexpectedly fell twice in the opening minute of his free skate. He put in an emotional and artistic performance that featured exceptional jumps and transitions.
Awarded a total of 280.09 points, he was crowned Olympic champion. He was the first male Japanese skater to win a figure skating gold medal, and the youngest man to do so for 66 years.
“I’m so surprised!” he exclaimed. “I’m not very happy with my performance. I was nervous, but I got the gold medal. I got the Japanese flag onto the flagpole. That’s something I can be proud of.”
A GREAT FIGURE SKATER
Having triumphed at the ISU Grand Prix just prior to the 2014 Olympic Games, Yuzuru made his homeland, Saitama proud and famous. He is the first figure skater to achieve this treble success during the same season since Alexei Yagudin in 2002. If he keeps on practicing and continue his kind of form, I believe that Yuzuru Hanyu will break more of the world records and probably his own records.
